Does NutriScan tell me if a meal is healthy?
Yes. Every meal you log gets a NutriScore grade from A to E with a short reason, shown on the meal's nutrition details page.
NutriScan grades whole meals, not single products. After you log a meal, the nutrition details page shows a NutriScore card with the grade (A to E) and the reason behind it.
How it works in the app
- Log a meal by photo or by typing it.
- Wait for the processing steps. The last two are "Finding micro-nutrients" and "Finding NutriScore".
- Open the meal's nutrition details page. The NutriScore card sits below the calories, macros and micronutrients.
- Tap the arrow on the card to open "Learn about NutriScore", which explains grades A to E.
If you edit the meal, for example by adding a missing item, the card shows "Updating NutriScore..." and then the new grade.
Day and week scores
The Insights tab uses the same grades over time. The calendar shows your last days in NutriScore colors, with the legend Very Healthy, Good, Moderate, Poor and Unhealthy. The day's overall score weights each meal's grade by its calories (A is 5, E is 1), so a large meal moves the day more than a snack. Insights also show your average NutriScore for the week, NutriScore by meal time, and your best and worst day.
Limits
- The grade is a rating of the meal as logged. If the photo missed an item, add it and the grade updates.
- NutriScan rates the meal you log, by photo or typed entry.
- NutriScore is a quality grade. It does not replace advice from a doctor or dietitian.
