Pretty good app honestly. Logging meals is fast and the macro breakdown is easy to read. Photo scan gets confused on some Indian dishes though, fix that and it's 5 stars for sure.
NutriScore App That Grades Every Meal You Log โ
Most nutrition apps hand you four numbers and let you decide what they mean. NutriScan puts a letter grade on the meal as well, with a written reason for it, and the grade costs nothing on any plan.

The grade is free on every meal. Go Premium for unlimited scans and the 28 day plan built around it.

What the NutriScore label is ๐ท๏ธ โ
Santรฉ publique France built the label for the French Ministry of Health and it went on shelves in France in 2017. Producers put it on their packs by choice, never by obligation, and the usage right is granted free of charge. Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Luxembourg have since recommended it, and the seven countries run it through a shared steering committee and scientific committee. The updated algorithm took effect in Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and the Netherlands at the start of 2024, in Luxembourg that March, and in France in March 2025.
The math is one overall score per 100 g or 100 ml. Nutrients and foods to encourage, fiber, protein, fruits, vegetables and pulses, pull the score one way. Nutrients to limit, energy, saturated fat, sugars and salt, pull it the other. The result maps onto a five color scale with the letters A to E, so a shopper can compare two products without reading a table.
NutriScan is not certified by Santรฉ publique France and does not read a grade off a wrapper. The app grades the meal from the nutrition it reads for that meal, cooked food included, on the same encourage against limit logic. That is the honest version, and it is why the grade works on a home cooked plate that no producer ever registered.
Where the grade shows up in the app ๐ โ
On the meal itself
Every logged meal opens a Nutrition Details page with calories, protein, carbs and fat, the four strongest micronutrients ranked high to low, and the NutriScore with a written description of why the meal scored what it did. An arrow beside the score opens the Learn NutriScore page if you want the scheme explained.
On the calendar
The Insights calendar paints each logged day dark green, green, yellow, orange or red by its score. Swipe across months, tap a day for its breakdown.
Across the week
The Progress tab reports your average NutriScore for the week plus NutriScore by meal, so a weak breakfast stops hiding behind a strong dinner.
Across months
The month view sets NutriScore beside weight change, calories, protein hit rate, meals and streak, with your best and worst days named.
In the Club ranking
The community board ranks the top 50 people by total meals multiplied by average NutriScore, plus a consistency bonus, and shows where you sit. A day's own grade is the calorie weighted average of its meals, so one heavy dish counts for more than one small one.
How a meal gets its NutriScore ๐ ๏ธ โ
Log the meal
Point the camera at your plate and crop the photo, or log by voice or text instead. On the crop screen you set the food type from eight tags, the cooking method from 11 options and the oil level across four steps, from no oil to high oil. Those three answers are what keep the nutrition close to the food you actually ate.

Read the grade and the reason
The Nutrition Details page opens with calories, protein, carbs and fat, the four strongest micronutrients ranked high to low, and the NutriScore for that meal with a written description of why it landed there. Tap the arrow beside it to open the Learn NutriScore page. Both the grade and the micronutrients are free on every scan.
Watch the colors add up
The Insights calendar colors every logged day by its NutriScore, dark green, green, yellow, orange or red, and a day's grade is the calorie weighted average of its meals. The Progress tab reports your average NutriScore for the week and your NutriScore by meal, then compares NutriScore across months beside weight change, calories, protein hit rate, meals and streak.

The part that stays free forever ๐ โ
The first three rows are the promise. The NutriScore on every meal and the micronutrients behind it are free tier features, and they stay free whether you subscribe, never subscribe, or subscribe and cancel. Nothing you already logged gets dimmed or taken back.
A subscription buys volume and planning, not access to the grade: unlimited scans instead of 5 a week, unlimited calls with Monika instead of 4, the 28 day diet plan with its grocery list and recipes, and the full weekly and monthly Progress reports. Cancel and you drop back to the free counts with your entire history and every colored day still there.
Go Premium for unlimited scans and the diet plan. The grade on your meals costs nothing either way.
What people are saying
Real reviews from people tracking their meals with NutriScan.
Finally sticking to a diet plan because of this app ๐๐ป
Surprisingly fun to use? Lost 1 kg in 4 days just by logging stuff and keeping my NutriScore green. Still on the free side, will probably grab Premium soon.
You take a photo and seconds later you have your macros and micronutrients. That's basically why I stuck with it.
Been using it 2 days now and liking it so far. First week is free so not much to lose.
Did some homework before installing and yeah, the photo scan accuracy is legit. NutriScore is solid too. Keep building, this is great.
Just started but it looks promising. Big plus that you can try it for free.
Finally a calorie counter without ads or upsells every two screens. Photograph the meal, done. Free, simple, exactly what I needed.
Found it right when I needed help fixing my eating. Really glad I did.
Solid pick if you want to track calories and stay on a diet plan without overthinking it.
Lost weight using this. The diet plan kept me honest on bad days. People sleep on how much diet actually matters.

Frequently Asked Questions โ โ
Is the NutriScore free in NutriScan? โ
Yes, on every meal, with no subscription and no end date. The grade, the written reason behind it, the four strongest micronutrients and the colored calendar are all free tier features and stay free whether you subscribe or not. There are two plans, Free and Premium, nothing in between.
Is this the official Nutri-Score from the packaging? โ
No. Santรฉ publique France owns the official Nutri-Score logo and grants the right to use it to registered food producers. NutriScan is not certified by them and does not read a grade off a wrapper. The app computes its own NutriScore style grade from the nutrition it reads for the meal, using the same idea of one overall score per 100 g or 100 ml.
What does the grade actually measure? โ
Nutritional quality, not calories. The public scheme weighs nutrients and foods to encourage, fiber, protein, fruits, vegetables and pulses, against nutrients to limit, energy, saturated fat, sugars and salt, per 100 g or 100 ml. A cooked meal in NutriScan is graded on the same logic, so a big portion of something plain can grade better than a small portion of something dense.
What happens to my grades if I cancel Premium? โ
Nothing is removed. Every meal you logged keeps its NutriScore and its micronutrients, the monthly calendar keeps its colors, and your history stays open with no limit. You go back to 5 AI photo scans a week and 4 voice calls a week with Monika. What a subscription adds is unlimited scans and calls, the 28 day diet plan with its grocery list and recipes, and the full weekly and monthly Progress reports.
How many meals can I score on a free account? โ
Five AI photo scans a week, and the counter resets every week. Meals you add by voice or text, favorites you copy to today and repeat meals all carry a NutriScore too. Your meal history has no cap, so a free account can build months of colored days. Premium removes the weekly scan limit.
